Description
  • This 1940’s dress was worn by the character Eva Peron portrayed by actress Madonna in the 1996 motion picture “Evita”
  • The cream silk knee length dress with asymmetrical draped flounce has a bold black velvet ribbon and button detail on the pointed collar, and black trim on the edge of the flounce and cuffs of the long sleeves
  • The actress wore the outfit onscreen during the musical number “Rainbow High” while launching a ship, again during the musical number “Rainbow Tour” when Eva is outside St. Peters as part of her European tour, and in a picture on the cover of the magazine “Picture POST” during the same number
  • She also wears the dress during the musical number “And the Money Kept Rolling In” while cutting a ribbon, and then in the black and white photo on the floor of the looted “La Prensa” office that Che picks up and tears apart during the number “Santa Evita”
  • Madonna again appears in the dress in a publicity still released by the studio
  • Comes accompanied by a letter of authenticity from the costume house
  • Evita is the Oscar-winning film adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber's stage musical based on the life of Eva Perón
  • Directed by Alan Parker and starring Madonna, Antonio Banderas and Jonathan Pryce, it was released on December 25, 1996 and grossed $50,047,179 in the U.S. box office and $143 million worldwide
  • The film received a warm reception from many critics
